Webinar: Slices

Slices

Présenté par Christian Perez, Inria

The rapid evolution of digital services and complex digital environments is creating new challenges in computation, virtualisation, and the management of distributed infrastructures. This webinar introduces SLICES, a European Research Infrastructure (RI) designed to address these challenges and provide a fully programmable and controllable platform for large-scale experimentation in computing and networking.

Christian Perez (Inria) provides a strategic introduction, explaining:

  • The objectives of SLICES, its role in Continuum Computing, and its ambitions as a European Research Infrastructure (ESFRI RI).
  • The architecture and governance of SLICES, including the establishment of its central hub in France and the structure of the French node, SLICES-FR.
  • The services and deployed equipment, enabling researchers and engineers to experiment with new approaches in networking, distributed computing, and virtualisation.
  • Ongoing collaborations and projects, including ODISSEE, a European initiative aimed at developing advanced solutions for processing the massive volumes of data generated by research infrastructures such as the HL-LHC at CERN and the SKA Observatory (SKAO), leveraging artificial intelligence and optimised algorithms.
