Contributions to SKAO

ECLAT members involved in the SKAO co-design team are central in coordinating with the SKAO project. Their mission is to communicate the results of ECLAT’s work so that they can be integrated into SKAO’s overall development plan. This strategic focus is structured around two main workstreams.
Modelling SDPs: anticipating and optimizing performance
This first part of the project aims to develop tools for estimating the performance of different solutions to guide software and hardware design choices, based on the study of specific SDP use cases. This work aims to establish:
- software modelling,
- modelling the usage of the SDP-HW resource,
- and to propose a comparison of scenarios.
Performance measurements
The models described above require calibrating performance measurements and evaluating the proposed solutions. In addition to the benchmarking activities already carried out by the SKAO co-design team and potentially beneficial to these two objectives, specific campaigns will be carried out, based on dedicated developments and execution on specific platforms including:
- prototyping,
- and measurement campaigns.
